In this tutorial I'll show you how to create a really simple Gold Leaf Design with the new CND Shellac Sweet Cider Shade from the Autumn Addict Collection and Lecente Gold Foil. This video is all about using the embossing technique with stamping and a non tacky topcoat (in this case Lecente Layer It). As well as your base shade, you will also need a slightly darker shellac colour to stamp with (I used Shellac Cherry Apple.) For this technique to work, the design you stamp with does need to be applied with Shellac Polish, not a Vinylux Polish or regular nail polish. If you choose to try this with a different stamping design it is worth noting that you should mask off any skin around the finger with masking tape to avoid getting gel polish on the skin (remember these products are not meant to touch skin, but the nail plate only.) The hero product here is Lecente Layer It which is a non tacky clear gel coat which can be used for things like adhering chrome pigments. Lecente Layer It is a 99% drying coat which has been tested as a safe product to use alongside CND Shellac without disrupting the Shellac system - where as mixing systems is usually discouraged , this product can safely work with CND Shellac. The idea is that when Lecente Layer It is cured, it does not leave a tacky residue (aka inhibition layer) behind. With Layer It you can mix up your nail art and have even more fun with CND Shellac. In this video I will be showcasing how you can use it with stamping. Once you've applied your colour coats, cured and then applied Layer It and cured, you can then stamp over your nail with Shellac polish, cure it and then when you go to apply Foil to the stamped design, it will only stick to the design and not the base colour coat. This can be a fun embossing technique and a way to add metallic elements to nail art. You can also use the Layer It to get chrome and holo pigments to stick to CND Shellac too.
