2月28日、3月1日に、天王寺動物園のスタッフブログで、イッちゃんお母さんと赤ちゃんの新しい新映像が公開されました！ 赤ちゃんの性別も判明しました！担当飼育員さんの書かれたブログをそのままご紹介します。 On 2/28 and 3/1, new footage of Icchan and her baby was released on the Tennoji Zoo staff blog! They were able to discover the sex of the cub! Please find the zookeeper's original blog text below. -- 2/28　赤ちゃんの性別 Cub's Gender http://blog.livedoor.jp/tennojizoo/archives/43174596.html 先日2/24日にホッキョクグマの子どもの性別判定をしました。 噂には聞いてましたが、相当暴れました😰 イッちゃんもぶち切れてました😱 じっとしてくれないし、すごいモフモフだしって中、調べた結果メスで間違いないだろうって感じです。 念のため毛根のDNAでも調べますので、その結果が出れば確定します。 ついでに体重も量りましたが10kgちょっとでした😊 生まれた時から10倍以上にはなっていますね。 それと、昨日(2/25)の夕方にゴーゴを３ヶ月以上ぶりに寝室に戻しました。 ゴーゴはあちこち確認しながら何度も出入りを繰り返してから奥まで進みました😅 ゴーゴが入ってくると、イッちゃん親子は落ち着きなく唸ったりしていましたが、夜にはいつものようにのんびり過ごしていました☺️ 今日はゴーゴ収容直後にも授乳をしていたので、もう馴れてくれたみたいです😌 イッちゃん親子は少しずつ段階をクリアして成長しています。 次は外の世界へのチャレンジです👍 ゴーゴ、長い間の外暮らしお疲れさま！ またすぐに長旅に出ることになるけど、きっとホッキョクグマのオスとして充実した暮らしが待ってます。 それまで慣れ親しんだ寝室で疲れをとってください☺️ On 2/24, we were able to discern the sex of the polar bear cub. As you may have heard, the cub was pretty upset by the exam, and Icchan was livid. Even though the cub would not sit still and its coat was so fluffy, we were able to see with reasonable confidence that it's a girl. We will also run a DNA test from some of its hair, so when we get the results we will know for sure. During the exam, we also weighed the cub and found that she is a little under 10 kg. That is 10 times what she weighed at birth! Yesterday evening (2/25), we allowed father, GoGo, to go into the sleeping den for the first time in 3 months. He went in and out of the den over and over, checking things out, until finally going in all the way. When GoGo went inside, Icchan and her cub were agitated and growled for a while. However, at night they were able to relax and spend the evening as they normally do. Today, Icchan was able to nurse her cub right after GoGo came in, which is a good sign that she has accepted his presence there. Icchan and her cub continue to grow and clear each stage of development. Next up is going outside! GoGo, good job living outside all this time! Although he will be leaving us soon, we are certain that he has a fulfilling lifestyle to look forward to at his new place. Until then, please take a well-earned break in your old sleeping den. — 3/1　性別判定その後 After Determining the Sex of the Cub http://blog.livedoor.jp/tennojizoo/archives/43198189.html 前回のブログでホッキョクグマの子どもを捕まえて性別判定をしたことをお知らせしました。 クマの仲間は外見では雌雄がわかりにくいのですが、ホッキョクグマのような希少種では、日本の動物園全体で繁殖計画を立てないといけません。 でも、多分メスかな？ぐらいでは計画も立てられないのです。 ですからだいたい生後100日あたりで一度捕まえてしっかり確認する必要があります。（今回は92日齢でおこないました） これより早いと子どもが未熟すぎるし、遅いと成長し過ぎてるので、暴れられるとしっかり調べることが困難になります。 また、マイクロチップを入れる必要もあるので、これも一緒におこないました。 その後はさすがに私を見るとイッちゃんの足の間に隠れていました…😔 でも翌日の午後の給餌の時には、もう気にせずにエサと格闘していました😊 またその後は柵越しに私の指にも闘いを挑んできました イッちゃんも私に対する不信感は残っていないようです😌 このまま大らかに育って欲しいです👍 On our last blog, we revealed that we were able to catch the polar bear cub and perform an exam. In the bear family it is usually difficult to determine the sex of young cubs, but for rare species like polar bears, all zoos in Japan must have a breeding plan for their polar bears. However, we can't proceed on a making a breeding plan on the conjecture that maybe the cub is a girl. For that reason, around 100 days after birth, we must catch the cub and perform an exam to check the sex. (This time, we performed the exam 92 days after birth.) Performing the exam any sooner than that and the cub would be too fragile and immature; if the exam is performed when the cub is much older, it will struggle and make it difficult to confirm the sex. We also inserted a microchip at the same time we checked the sex. After the exam, upon seeing me, the cub ran between Icchan's legs and hid... But the next afternoon at feeding time, she was busy playing with food and ignored me. Later on, she even tried attacking my finger through the fence. It also looks like Icchan isn't harboring any lasting mistrust toward me.
