Prior to moving to Japan I lived in Uzbekistan, Ukraine and the UK. This video is about visiting my childhood home and neighbourhood in Obolon district in Kyiv and remembering what my life used to be like. Away from the busy and lit up street of Khreschatik is normal every day real Ukranian life. I give you a tour of my house in Kyiv, and try to show what life is like living in Ukraine. I get a lot of questions asking me, where are you from? This has always been difficult for me to answer. Aside from living in Japan I have lived in a LOT of places. I have been a foreigner many times. I was born in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. My grandmother and grandfather (from my mothers side) are from a tiny village in Belarus and Samarkand, Uzbekistan (with some roots in Tatarstan). The other half of my family are Ukrainian. Prior to moving to the UK or Japan, at first I moved from Uzbekistan and then to Ukraine with my grandmother to join the rest of my family. And even though most immediate family have moved elsewhere, some of my family still live there, and will never leave because of strong loyalty to our country, Ukraine.
